Uk car insurance quote

Questions and Answers

What UK car insurance companies will consider my Canadian driving experience?

Q) I recently exchanged my Canadian driving license for a full UK license but insurance quotes are so high because most companies only consider that I haven't had my full license for more than a year (in fact I have had a full Canadian license for 8 years). The insurance companies also don't seem to consider that I have had no claims on my Canadian insurance for 8 years. Does anyone know of a UK car insurance provider that will consider foreign driving experience in their quotes?

A) Try Liverpool Victoria - they are based in Bournemouth?? You can get a quote on the web, but in your instance I would call them and discuss your situation, I even got an introductory 1 year no claims bonus. Their number is - 0870 6004528 And good luck.

how can i get a quote for car insurance by filling in 1 form for all companies on web in uk?

A) You can't do it for ALL companies as they all want different information. Confused.com is a broker and will ask several insurance companies. Unfortunately there is no way round the leg work of form filling. Alternatively ask you friends who they use. As long as they are the same age and drive a similar car that will give a good comparison. Me I am 42 and drive a Mazda 5 Diesel and I use Direct Line.

Why are UK Car Insurance Premiums so high compared to the rest of Europe?

Q) After a quick browse on the nest I found that similar conditions and parameters when applied to Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands produce quotes that are at least half to a maximum of 70% less. Also, continental insurers are not asking too many questions. I was never asked about, where I park the car, if it has a tracking device, if there's CCTV in the area or what brand the alarm system was. Does anyone know why these UK premiums end up so much more expensive? (The one reason I can imagine, is that insurance gets much less exposure in advertising in those European copuntries compared to UK). Any answers appreciated.

A) Well, this is not a professional answer and is only an opinion but I feel that the French and other such countries would not stand for the high premiums we have to pay and would do something about it such as strike. Its the label of RIP OFF Britain that comes to the front of my mind again where insurance companies charge as much as they can get away with hence higher fees.

E Car Insurance - Anyone know this company? UK?

Q) I am a first time driver and just bought my first car, i have been looking on the net for Insurance Quotes and came across a site called E Car Insurance. The quote i got from them seems unbelievable. It is at least £400-£500 cheaper than anyone else i have been quoted from. I just wonder whether this company is legit and if anyone has their insurance already with them. It just seems too good to be true!

A) They do exsist. have you tried: www.moneysupermarket.com or www.confused.com I use them to find car & house insurance.

Car Insurance (UK)- Am I allowed to register as a new customer when I am a current customer?

Q) My insurance is up for renewal with Churchill, Churchill online price is slightly cheaper than my renewal quote from them Will it be OK? I don't see why not

A) As your policy is up for renewal you can go where ever you want. The online discount is because of the lack of admin they have to do. Make sure cover is like for like. I would be upset they hadn't offered you the lower terms but as I said lack of admin. You will be fine to stay with them. They should be more than happy to keep your custom.

UK only!! Car insurance whilst buying a used car?

Q) I've not driven for six years now and have no insurance; say for example you buy a car from someone - how can you be insured to drive it away that day. Do you need a cover quote and how could you obtain one if you're not sure of the exact car you're going to buy?

A) When you are buying the car, ring up for a quote and get a reference number. If you buy the car, ring again and make the payments etc and you will be covered straight away if you ask. You will not obviously have the cover note until they send it though so you will need to make sure that the garage taxes it for you in their name first.

No claims discount on car insurance?

Q) I've been driving in the UK for 13 years and never had a crash or made a claim on my car insurance. However, my wife has had three accidents, all of which have resulted in claims against our joint policy. I have now separated from her (not as a result of the accidents!) and want to buy a car of my own. When I look for car insurance quotes, can I state that I've had 13 years of no claims or do I have to take into account her 3 claims because they were made against a joint policy?

A) If the insurance was in your name with your wife as a named driver then it is your insurance that has been claimed against and will need to be declared. If the policy was in your wife's name with you as named driver then your future insurance policies are not effected. However if the latter is the case then you do not have a no claims discount as you were not the the holder of the insurance. Some companies will honour the fact that you have never claimed as a named driver on someone else's policy and give you a small introductory discount on this basis.

What are the American Car Hire Insurance Regulations (specifically florida)?

Q) Hello All, I am going to the states (Florida) in a few weeks and have arranged a hire car through Dollar. I have just found out that the rate I have been quoted does not include insurance. Can anyone tell me how the car insurance system works over there? With UK car hire it is included as it’s compulsory to be insured, is this the case in the states or are the rules different? Do I need to arrange for a 3rd party to insure me/the car while on holiday? Thanks In Advance!

A) Sorry but you are going to need full insurance (not sure of the price nowadays). It is a common practice that the people that sell cheap or free car hire will then charge the earth for insurance. Take a look at this website www.uscarhire.co.uk We always use them and have never found a better deal. Absolutely everything is included insurance wise, so the price they quote is the price you pay. Contact your agent or Dollar to see how much insurance would be then check out the site above and you will probably find it is cheaper to use them than pay for insurance. Another tip is to join Dollar Express (you can do it throught the site above). It is free to join and much quicker to pick up your car at the airport. Hope this helps you.

car insurance for young drivers?

Q) looking to buy a new car (uk feedback only please), been on admiral and they have given me the best quote does anybody have any good insurance companys who will insure a young driver? car i have is a VW GOLF R32. believe it or not its cheaper insuring this car which is a 3.2L than it would be to buy a civic type R, which is only a 2.L any help appreciated well thats the thing i used confused yet the quote returned from admiral was more than when i went throught the site.... not very accurate if you ask me

A) Hey man... im a young driver and i got a really cheap quote via http://www.adrian-flux-cheap-car-insurance.blogspot.com Hope this helps

Can I get car insurance for just 3 months?

Q) I am looking into getting my car insured for 3 months as I have been getting some insurance quotes and the cheapest I have been able to find is £1650 but if I wait for 3 months then I will be 19 years old and will have had my licence for 1 year the price goes down to around the £1000 mark so I was wondering if their are any companies that would let me insure my car for 3 months. What I was thinking of doing was getting insurance for 3 months but have my dad as the main driver and me as a named driver then the price won't be as high. Once the 3 months are up I will cancel the policy or if I got a 3 month policy it will run out then I can start my own policy which then I can earn my own no claims being the main driver. If anyone knows of any companies who do this or anyone I can try I would like to hear from you. I live in the UK .

A) http://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk/ These folks offer "pay as you go" insurance. The policies are one month long and automatically renew. Take one of these and cancel after 3 months! Generally short term insurance is a nightmare. My own broker requested almost a years premium for four weeks cover. These guys did it for a fifth of my annual premium.

Help with Car Insurance quote?

Q) Hey there, I just wondered if someone could help me with a query on car insurance. Does anyone know how much I could end up paying for Insurance for a Vauxhall Corsa? I'm 23, and passed my test in January and was thinking off buying a car in a month or 2. Ive tried various sites for insurance quotes but they all ask for your number and I don't want to get hassled. The details of the type of car I'd like is as follows: Transmission: manual Fuel: petrol Engine size: 1.2L Doors: 5 Not much I know but this is the site I got the details from: http://www.arnoldclark.co.uk/detail.html?ac_reg=blk_u31kotjueau0i8uc&$ac_sr=0&$ac_pp=10&$blk=1&$franchiselist=vaux&$model=Corsa&$franchise=vaux&$model=Corsa I realise I probably wont get an exact amount but even an idea of how much I might end up paying a month. Thanks for any help :)

A) Of course no one could give you a quote of any kind. But when you describe the car it tells me that it is not an exotic. That it is a hatchback sedan and of low power which would put your car in a very low range in premiums. However, according to where you live, your premium could be higher because of your age and gender.

What car? What insurance? (UK only, please)?

Q) I'll probably be 19 by the time I get my full UK manual licence, but obviously young whipper-snappers come off worse when it comes to insurance. However, I've had such a huge array of quotes - ranging from £1,500 to £6000. One quote was £1,500 for a 2.0 litre Mercedes 190! Whilst another was £4,500 for a 1.8 litre Audi! There just seems to be no logic behind any quotes, and I'm woundering whats the best car to get (which isn't under 1.8 litre), and the best insurence company to go for. Thanks.

A) The best thing to do is try to search it on the net, go for an online quotation so that you can compare different car insurance rate. You can try to visit to cheap car insurance site http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com evaluate and select the best company that could provide you a much cheaper car insurance rate. Goodluck

Car Insurance UK?

Q) I'm confused about something. I've been driving for about 7 months and have my own insurance which is fully comp and I pay £102 each month. Only now my boyfriend drives my car but only has just passed his test last month. I need to put him on my insurance as a 2nd driver. Only I'm sure that I have read and when I took out my own insurance that by putting a 2nd driver onto my insurance would lower my rate. However I have been doin online quotes and all of them are basically sayin I'll be paying around £300 MORE a month, which we cannot afford! I'm confused because I thought that with him being on it we'll be paying less or around the same amount! Can he take out his own insurance on my car or does he have to go on mine? Also does anyone know why it'll cost so much more for him to go on mine? Thank you :)

A) It is the driver who is insured to drive your car. An inexperienced / young driver will always cost more to insure. If your bf carry on holding the lisence for three years, without claim, the premium will come down.

CHEAP car insurance in US?

Q) I am trying to find car insurance because i am about to lease my own car but all of the places I have looked at are crazy expensive. I even got a quote of $300 a month from geico. The other places i checked were all for the UK. Can somebody help me and suggest a cheap place to try?!

A) I answered a similar question like this a couple weeks back. Insurance rates vary from company to company, so, your best bet would be to obtain a quote from different insurance companies to see who can provide you with the best rate. Only obtaining the rate from one company won't let you know if you are getting the best rate. If your vehicle is being financed (you are still paying on it), you would want to have comprehensive and collision coverage. Both of these coverages require that you select a deductible, which is the amount you are required to pay before the insurance company pays. Pick limits that are affordable for you in the event you have an accident (mainly go with the $250 deductible option). Also, pick liability limits that will protect you if you cause an accident, and that will prevent you from being sued in the end. For example, you have limits of 25/50/10 meaning that $25,000 will be paid for bodily injury up to $50,000 and $10,000 will be paid if you damage property. That might be the state limit, but if you hit a Hummer, you are out of luck and the other driver can sue you. Pick your limits wisely. Also, because you are leasing, make sure to select loan/lease payoff (also called gap coverage). This coverage will help you in the event you have an accident, your car is totaled, and you owe money to the finance company. The insurance policy will pay towards some, if not all, of the balance that you may owe to the finance company. To compare rates, you can go to the following websites: www.progressive.com www.esurance.com www.insurance.com www.insweb.com

where can I find car insurance who will LISTEN to my circumstances.?

Q) I have been driving for over 20 years but the last 5 years have been on my husbands policy for company cars. Before then I had full no claims but lost them as we lived in Singapore on a 3 year work contract, I was driving there also with a Singapore driving licence. When we came back to the UK I have been driving brand new top of the range 2.0 cars.(accident free) Now I need to get car insurance but the set forms do not take any of this into account. Hence the hefty quotes. I have only 1 controversial speeding penalty. Why dont you insurers out there LISTEN !!!

A) here in australia we have insurance companys that will insure modified cars that have a higher risk of theft they also cover high risk drivers you might try a company like that if you have one there or an insurace broker. good luck
